First Grade Class

    Thank you for taking the time to view our class website. This site was developed primarily with the students and their parents in mind.  It is an area where they will find information concerning the class, as well as a showcase of work and growth throughout the school year. I've tried to make this site as informative as possible, but there will always be material which could be added.  If you have any suggestions for additional content please feel free to email me. 

     To all my students...WELCOME! First grade is a very special place to be and I am very excited about spending this year with you. I hope I will make your first grade year an enjoyable and rewarding experience. We will learn a tremendous amount of new skills and have lots of fun together using hands-on learning materials, reading books, completing experiments, and writing all about our experiences. If by the end of the year you cannot wait for the next school year to begin, then I know I've done my job.

     To all my parents...THANK YOU for entrusting your children to my care. I know how difficult it can be to see your children head off to school, but I can promise you that I will care for each of them as if they were my own.  As their teacher and mentor, I am responsible not only for their educational growth, but also their social growth.  By making learning fun the children may not even realize they are learning, and if done correctly, they will see school as a great place to be and look forward to each and every day.

To properly use the Advent calendar, you open a single window on each day leading to Christmas.  I know that this is hard to do...it's like flashing a Christmas present in front of a child.  If it will make you feel better, go ahead, and open the windows as you want.
